Preface by Nikolay Khozyainov
Nowadays all we hear people talk about is war, so it is not surprising that according to the United Nations there are 25 nations at war around the world now. That is why I composed a piece specifically for this concert and gave its world premiere at the United Nations. I called my work the “Petals of Peace” (Pétales de la Paix). Peace is like a mirage, like a beautiful vision; we can sometimes see it, we can even touch it sometimes. Yet it is what we all strive for and what we want more than anything. This piece is another world, a world where the beauty reigns, where we are all together as one. It is a dream that we want to go on forever.
